| ▪ | First off there are a few questions to be answer before designing a workflow these are: |
| o | What groups do they belong to? |
| o | What are the Primary identifiers for this Workflow? |
| o | What are the high level tasks that occur in the workflow? |
| o | What questions might be asked to move from task to task? |
| o | What are the Business rules that govern this flow? |
| o | Should there be alerts in the system? |
| o | What Reporting is required? |
| ▪ | After those questions have been answered you will want to determine which gates you will need to use |
| ▪ | After determining which gates you will need to use you will want to determine where those gates should be located |
| ▪ | It is important to keep in mind that gates usually except input from predefined directions (usually left) and give output to predefined directions (usually right) |
| ▪ | It is recommended that you have a sense of where the gates will appear in relation to each other before you start the mapping process
